Covid-19: WHO and China acted too slowly in early days of pandemic, says report

Abstract Single-cell RNA-seq enabled in-depth study on tissue micro-environment and immune profiling, where a crucial step is to annotate cell identity. Immune cells play key roles in many diseases while their activities are hard track due diverse highly variable nature. Existing cell-type identifiers had limited performance for this purpose. We present HiCAT, hierarchical, marker-based identifier utilizing gene set analysis statistical scoring given markers. It features successive identification of major-type, minor-type subsets subset markers structured three-level taxonomy tree. Comparison with manual annotation pairwise match test showed HiCAT performs better than others major identification. For identification, since no dataset provides canonical annotation, we qualitatively evaluated marker expression profile, was the best sense that, its genes were expressed mostly designated rarely non-designated subsets.
